106th Spingarn Medal of the NAACP
on Friday, Janaury 28th, 2022 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Due to COVID restrictions, in-person availability is limited, however the speaking portion of the event will be livestreamed beginning at 4:30 p.m. Please tune in to join us in celebrating Dr. Laurencin's historic achievement!


The Spingarn Medal
The medal is presented for the "highest or noblest achievement by a living African American during the preceding year or years in any honorable field.” It recognizes Laurencin's seminal and singular accomplishments in regenerative engineering, a field he founded. Previous Spingarn Medal recipients include George Washington Carver, Martin Luther King Jr., and Maya Angelou.
