Committees
The University Student Learning Assessment Committee is charged with supporting academic programs in regard to advancing the assessment of student learning outcomes; gathering and interpreting information and evidence to demonstrate whether students are reaching such goals; and supporting and providing guidance in how this assessment data is used for the improvement of student learning.
The Board of Trustees Academic Affairs Committee includes members from the UConn Board of Trustees and representatives from the UConn Senate.
The Consulting Oversight Committee is responsible for monitoring the University’s compliance with Faculty Consulting policies and procedures. The COC reviews the annual report submitted by the University Office of Audit and Management Services and makes recommendations to the Board of Trustees of the University concerning policies and procedures. The COC sends a copy of such recommendations, in accordance with section 11-4a of the Connecticut General Statutes, to the joint standing committees of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to higher education and government administration.
As per the By-Laws of the University of Connecticut, Article XIV – The University Staff, Section K, there shall be a standing University of Connecticut Emeritus Committee, which reviews cases for Emeritus status.
In collaboration with the UConn Library, the Future of Journal Subscriptions Committee and colleagues in the field of librarianship will work toward achieving the goal of connecting with our community of learners, shaping the sustainable scholarship landscape, and improving access for everyone.
The Provost's Office convened the Future of Learning Committee in Spring 2021 to plan for post-pandemic education at UConn. The committee is charged to consider, how can we use what we have learned from COVID to enhance our educational mission and increase the close personal interactions between faculty and students that are a hallmark of a UConn education?
The Provost’s Office and Human Resources are partnering on a new Future of Work Committee to consider recommendations for professional staff re-entry at UConn from the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as consider more broadly if and how the nature of work at UConn will be changed following more than a year of primarily remote operations.
The Life-Transformative Education Task Force was appointed by the Office of the Provost and comprises representatives from areas throughout the University who have proven to be visionary, creative, and innovative leaders in the life-transformative education space. The taskforce is charged with identifying areas where UConn is already strong and where it can improve, as well as recommending bold new ways to extend a life-transformative educational experience to all 24,000 UConn undergraduate students.
Forums
The Academic Finance and Personnel Leadership (AFPL) Forum is composed of senior staff in the schools/colleges, regional campuses, other academic units, and central business offices who manage aspects of budget/finance, personnel, workforce initiatives, and general administration. Forums are hosted by Provost administrative leadership quarterly to provide an opportunity for colleagues to share relevant information, discuss the impact of new and changing policies and initiatives, share best practices, solve problems, and work collaboratively through issues of mutual interest and concern.
The Women’s Leadership Forum is a collective of UConn leaders who identify as women invested in the development and success of other women in leadership positions at UConn and UConn Health. Participation is voluntary and includes women who hold managerial-level academic or administrative positions at UConn and UConn Health.
Taskforces
The University leadership team collaborates with offices across the University to implement an Executive Leaders Onboarding program to provide information and guidance to support your effectiveness as a UConn leader.
Convened in Fall 2022, the SET Senate Taskforce was commissioned by the University Senate to develop and recommend a supplement to the existing SET (student evaluations of teaching) to better reflect the purpose of this metric of instruction evaluation. The Taskforce has been charged with creating a recommendations report to be shared with the University Senate and subsequently passed on to the Office of the Provost for consideration.
