Data from university sources including Core-CT, Student Administration, and Info-Ed are loaded on a recurring basis outlined here.

UConn utilizes Interfolio Data Service (IDS), technology that populates the Interfolio Faculty Activity Reporting (FAR) module, in bulk. The Data Service comes connected to an expanding group of sources that include over 250 million activities, published and tracked in over 60,000 journals, government systems, and other authoritative outlets.

The Data Service then allows scholars to validate the academic data matched with them. Only after a scholar has validated their data will it be saved to their profile in Interfolio. See the below instructions on reviewing matched activities.

Faculty Activity Reporting collects faculty data from several internal and external sources, however there will be times where you need to add or update information manually. Check out the below user guides for help with navigating scholarly activities.

Due to licensing issues, Interfolio cannot automatically link records from Google Scholar. To add Google Scholar Records, follow the below steps. Make sure to scroll down to the FAQ section of this page that explains deduplication.

Templates

Template - A template is used to set up a vita, including the sections and styling of the vita. These can be created at multiple levels including by unit or by individual faculty member.

Biosketches - similar to vitas, however, some sections are required to be included in a biosketch and cannot be changed, as this could make the biosketch out of compliance with the granting agency's guidelines. Within a section, faculty members can select which items to display in the selected biosketch. In addition, date ranges for biosketches are typically locked to comply with the granting agency's guidelines.

Personal Templates: 

Faculty can create their own templates to generate CVs based on their activities and profile. Follow the instructions here to build your own template: Interfolio — Create Personal Vita Templates

Institutional Templates:

At the institutional level, there will be templates available to generate forms for PTR/PR actions as well as a general merit template. These will be available in Spring 2025. Additional templates may be created as we continue to use the system.

Unit Specific Templates:

Administrative users within specific units (i.e. in a dean's office or department head's office) have the privileges to create unit level templates for use in processes like merit, annual evaluations, etc.)

Vitas

Vita - The vita is the output of the template. This is where faculty will go to add custom text and generate/save/export their vita.

For Faculty:

Faculty can now select other Faculty Activity Reporting (FAR, Faculty180) users to be a proxy (delegate) user on their account, allowing proxy users to access the CV information and reports for the faculty accounts they are assigned to. Interfolio — Configure Faculty Account Access

For Administrative Users:

Administrative users can emulate faculty and staff to access information or view FAR from their perspective. Interfolio — Use Emulate User Tool

In order to use this integration, a faculty member must generate a user ORCID ID by establishing an account/record in the ORCID system. Once an ORCID account is established, the faculty member gives FAR permission, via OAuth, to access the ORCID account directly, then the ORCID import and export functionality becomes available.
