As the chief of staff and assistant vice provost of strategic communications for the Provost’s Office, Kristi Henderson is the primary liaison to the provost, and she oversees the daily operations of the office. Kristi is responsible for implementing the provost’s vision and priorities through strategic communications, prioritization and tracking of projects and initiatives, issues management, and coordination among staff and the Provost’s Core Team. Working closely with University Communications, she oversees all aspects of academic communications and executive messaging from the Provost’s Office.
Before coming to UConn, Kristi led communications and strategic projects for 12 years at the University of Kansas College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. As chief of staff and director of communications, she directed projects and teams across executive communications and media relations, digital and social media, alumni and donor engagement, and other administrative priorities. Her career began in journalism, starting as editor of the University Daily Kansan student newspaper and followed by positions at multiple newspapers including the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Kansas City Star.
Kristi received her B.S. degree in journalism from the University of Kansas, and she is currently pursuing an M.B.A.
